I wonder if I can find these beads again and try that, see if they come back shiny again.

I might have to try this again.dragonjoolshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02694253446479395485noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17934992.post-69301082715627371812011-03-04T17:11:52.594-05:002011-03-04T17:11:52.594-05:00Hi Dwyn,

The steel bits go all matte, and so does the metal.
What to do: Clean hot water in the drum, a squirt of dishwashing liquid (like a good teaspoon full), put in the steel and matte metal or beads and roll it for about ½ hour. Take out and rinse well.
Now make a fresh polishing solution, warm water so the drum is 3/4 full, ad a tablespoon full of white soapflakes and a teaspoon of ammonia (we use 25% here, don't know what is available to you). This is the standard recipe for polishing silver, and also what I used when polishing beads with silver dots, and they rolled in the drum overnight without problems!
The water in the drum can be used over and over again, as long as it feels sudsy - at some point it dyes and feels "squeaky", like clean water, and the next thing happening will be the matting.
However, I suspect the particles from the bead release might have some abrasive effect on the surface of the glassbeads? My beads were clean when I put them in, the point was to polish the silver dots.Kathe Lewishttp://www.mycrafts.dknoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17934992.post-91891227718833277302010-05-19T13:39:39.967-04:002010-05-19T13:39:39.967-04:00Absolutely. It is a great cordless, rechargeable model that has an ergonomic shape that is held similar to how you would use a glue gun.
I start my day in the studio cleaning my beads while my kiln is ramping up and allows me to clear my mind and open the creative process for the day.Darlene for Pendragonfyre Designshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13438400047471010752noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17934992.post-84306548583531531292010-05-12T12:44:03.158-04:002010-05-12T12:44:03.158-04:00Thanks for another idea.
